Dianne and Paul Roach, we operated Ashord Motors between 1989 - 1999. The owner was Jan and Bruce Higgins who lived in the adjoining house, not sure now how long he operated it. It was a thriving business, Mechanical repairs, NRMA Depot and Bank Agency. We brought a house in Inverell Street. We made great friends and had good times. The population was approximately 600 in those days and many local businesses thrived, that are now sadly closed.

My grandfather was the owner and operator of this garage during the 1940's till some time in the early 1950's when he pasted away. He also build the house that was along side it that had a large palm tree in the front yard that he planted.
