| Alexandra is a town of 1,850 people located near the Goulburn River between Yea and Eildon. It is situated 130km north-east of Melbourne. The town has many historical buildings dating back to the discovery of gold in the 1850's. The town is an important hub for surrounding villages such as Yarck, Acheron, Taggerty and Thornton. The Timber Tramway & Museum is a major tourist attraction in the area and can be found at the old railway station. |
