| Corowa is a town of 5,150 people situated 616km south west of Sydney and 300km north of Melbourne. The beginnings of the Australian Federation took place in Corowa in 1983 when a "peoples convention" produced a motion for Federation which fuelled a popular movement across Australia. The full history can be seen at the Federation Museum in Corowa. Agricultural activities include the crops of wheat, barley and canola, beef and sheep grazing, sustainable forests and wine and olive growing. The town has a number of excellent walking trails such as the old rail line via Corowa's historic railway station and flour mill. Corowa is definitely a tidy town and the shopping centre is quite modern. |
