Forbes is a town of 10,000 people situated on the Newell Highway 384km west of Sydney. The town is located on the Lachlan River and is a prosperous farming region. The town has many historical buildings going back to the gold mining days of the 1800's. The bushranger Ben Hall was captured and shot near Forbes and his grave can be visited on the Bogan Road. Hot air ballooning is very popular in the Forbes area.
