Gwydir Cara Park and Thermal Pools - Moree NSW
The Gwydir Carapark & Thermal Pools is located on the Newell Highway at Moree. The Resident Manager is Angela McDonald. The park has 150 sites and 80 are available for tourists. The park is pet friendly. Bookings can be made by telephoning the park and please tell them that you have seen their photos on Caravan Park Photos.
Harry Willey writes: "I have been holidaying in Moree for the last forty years, and every time I arrive I can see improvements in the Town, the Shopping Centre, and the accommodation for Tourists.
In the 1970s if you wanted to experience the benefits of the Artesian Thermal water the only way to do it was by way of the Town Swimming Centre, which had segregated pools for men and women.
Then in 1996/7 The McDonald family, the owners of the Gwydir Carapark, sunk a bore down 720 metres to tap into the Great Artesian Basin below the park and installed two pools.
In 2004 two more pools were added, these four pools, three with shade cloth above them, give the visitor the choice of four different temperatures of the hot mineral water.
Now with the addition of a 25metre (Cool) Pool you would think the Complex was complete, but it is still a work in progress and visitors can expect to see more improvements in the future.
Bring your Van of tent or come by Rail, Coach or Plane; everyone is well catered for, with a variety of self contained cabins, a good camping and caravan area, supplemented by a Bar-B-Q area CampKitchen, TV Room a Kiosk that serves hot meals each night.
The Thermal Pools are available only to tenants of the park and are open 15 hours a day, a small army of maintenance staff keep the Pools and Park in top condition.
Moree, situated at the junction of the Newell and Gwydir Highways is 647km from Sydney, 479km from Brisbane and 504km from Newcastle is a rural town with many well kept parks and one of the best planned and kept shopping centres you will find anywhere, unbelievably wide footpaths and tree lined Streets."

Didn't get a chance to try the pools. The sites were way too small for our van let alone put the awning out. Way too many people jammed in. We found another park with a small hit pool, a lot less people and good size sites, so all was not lost.
We found the pools to be a fantastic loved them nice and clean! If you stay in a cabin just make sure you ask if they contain sheets and towels before the office closes. The park is clean friendly and very large, nice green camping sites with great TV in tv room.
Went to book into Gwydir Caravan Park to relax and enjoy the pools but found the caravan sites too small, not enough room to put your caravan awning out. Step out of your van and you are only four or five feet of the next van. We moved on to another park. Inspect the sites before you book in.
We just luv the Heated pools !!!
Tony and I have been going to the Gwydir Caravan Park on and off for about
eight years. What a great place to unwind. We tend to start our annual
holidays with a stay here and we also end them up with a last weekend here. Our home is at Guyra, so this is a good Winter time escape for us.
We have had lots of weekends here with friends and family. Excllent - thankyou to all involved at the Park. See you soon again.

What a great place to stay and relax. Thirty or forty persons from aqua aerobics on the central coast NSW have been going to The Gwydir Carapark for the past seven years. Yes, as you guessed, thirty three of us have booked in again for later this year. Value for money, we cannot come up with anything that equals. Keep up the good work Lindy, Kim and staff.
Well I and Margaret, are not the only people impressed with Moree, A property investment group has made a list of the top 50 Australian Towns and Suburbs. 18 of the locations they selected are in New South Wales, with the key factors, population growth, demand for housing, income and employment levels.
Muswellbrook tops the list for New South with Moree second ahead of Bathurst, Goulburn, Penrith and Neutral Bay.
So give it a go, you will never never know until you give it a go.
I stumbled across gwydir carapark when doing a road trip with my 5 month old and puppy about 1 year ago ! I was do impressed with the facilities, pools and general park ! I raved about it to everyone ! My husband and I were doing another road trip and were disappointed we werent able to get through because of local floods ! We ensured we were able to get there on our way home ! My husband was equally impressed and now calls it his new favorite place to stay ! Well done gwydir carapark !
