Rivers Edge Caravan Park - Tailem Bend SA

Pet Friendly

Tailem Bend is more of a truck stop than a tourist town. The Rivers Edge Caravan Park is right beside the busy Princes Highway and a large service station. The park mainly consists of permanent residents although 40 tourist sites are available. A number of cabins sit on the edge of the river behind the service station. The resident owners are Trevor and Alphia Morgan. Bookings can be made by telephoning the park and please tell them that you have seen their photos on Caravan Park Photos. Photos on this page were taken on 7th June 2006.

We stayed at this caravan park when we visited the murray river and had a fabulous time. The whole holiday was great and the relaxed vibe of the park was lovely. All the staff tried hard to make us feel comfortable and look after us during our stay.

We enjoyed our stay and the Murray River can be so beautiful. We stayed in the powered site and the facilities were good. We cooked most nights and enjoyed the hot showers after a long time being couped up in our van from the journey. It's a really nice and tranquil place to be and we got on very well with the owners. Very nice

We planned a two night stop at this park on our way through to Robe, but left after only one. Whilst the park clearly has potential and the new cabins appeared fine, the facilities for caravaners and campers were far from acceptable. The showers and toilets were very dirty and the camp kitchen and BBQs looked as though they had not been cleaned in a very long time either. Whilst the majority of caravan sites are good with excellent shade the facilities certainly let this place down. The sign on the highway indicates that this is a four star establishment and left us wondering which organisation (if any) had awarded that level of certification. In addition, the website can also be very misleading with the photographs taken from the best possible angles, as one would no doubt expect when advertising. This park is badly in need of a thorough makeover and our early departure certainly reflects our feelings.

Over priced for the quality of the facilities which are old, cracked and not cleaned well. The views over the Murray must be priceless but I would rather have clean, tidy amenities. We had a powered site for 2 nights.
