Torrington is a small village located in the Tenterfield Shire in Northern NSW 668 kilometers north of Sydney. It is 69 kilometers from Glen Innes and 29 kilometres east of Deepwater. The plateau on which Torrington sits is known as The Mole Tableland which stretches to the Queensland border. The town is approximately 1141 metres (3744 ft) above sea level. Torrington has an abundance of boulders and rocky outcrops which are enticing for fossicking. The most notable of these outcrops is the "Goat Rock" which is situated in the village.
