Casino is a pleasant stopover on the Summerland Way which provides a reasonable alternative to the busy Pacific Highway. Beef cattle and agriculture form the backbone of the local economy. Let me share with you an interesting story about Casino. Some American friends of mine were staying at my home in Coffs Harbour while I was overseas. They took a drive to Grafton one day and saw a big sign which said "CASINO". Feeling the need for a spot of gambling they followed the sign for 100 kilometers until they eventually reaching Casino. Making enquires as to where they could fine the "Casino" they were informed that it was the name of the town and not a gambling casino!! Casino has some excellent schools and a sunny climate. A motor home park is situated on the south of the town.
