We visited the Ballina Maritime Museum and at only $5 per adult it was very well worth a visit. The museum is full of beautifully built models of ships of all kinds and has hundreds of historic photos of Ballina and its docks, the Darwin bombing, WW2 photos of navy ships, Sailing ships and many relics from anything to do with ships. There are beautiful paintings of ships and scenes from the early days. A nice gift shop is also great place to pick up any nautical souvenirs.

We have always loved this park and now even more they have a pet friendly section. For many years there was nowhere in Ballina to stay with our dog. Their new waterfront section for dogs is by far the best part of the park. The other part we like is how close it is to the beach and flat walking areas particularly the part alongside the river. Great park!

We stayed here last weekend and was pleased to see that the park now has a pet section where tent, powered, ensuite sites and large motorhomes can stay with their pets. We dont travel with pets but I think all parks should have a pet friendly section. Maybe there would be a few less animals in shelters because they can travel and not be a burden and end up looking for new homes. Well done Lakeside!

Ballina is a really nice big country town. There are plenty of shops for all your needs and the scenery is good too. Lakeside caravan park is in my opinion the best park to stay. There is a mini golf in the park and the park is lovely and clean and the sites are all good including the ensuit sites. Ballina does have quite a bit of rain but then you will never visit and not see everything so green and beautifull. A walk along the break water is a must and the beaches are perfect for the beach lover. Many tourist go strait to Byron bay, but in my opinion Ballina is better, more peacefull.
