I’ve had no less that four Registration Label Holders go brittle as a result of sunlight exposure. On one occasion the holder fell off so I had to get a replacement label.
Yesterday I needed to replace the holder again and I came across a new Perspex holder made by a company called Stable Label Holder.
I purchased the label holder from FM Discount Spares in Shellharbour but I expect they will be available in lots of other motor accessory outlets.
The label holder cost me $9.95 and I was told it should last for 10 years.

I would do away with the holders. I have mine affixed to the glass on the door. No problems in reading it and no need for holders.
I use a metal base one on my off road camper and had no problems they are a bit had to find the only thing is the plastic cover you stick the lable to gets brittle after a while so just replace it with a piece of the same material the make cafe blinds out of last indefinatly. on the van i intend to do as above put on the door glass.
