A Caravan Resort

I recently visited the Casino Village RV Resort in NSW.  It is a stunning property located on a large parcel of land adjacent to the Casino Airport.

What they have achieved here is truly remarkable.  They have facilities for caravans and RV’s but the big difference is the over 50’s Manufactured Home Precinct which provides comfortable homes with provision for a caravan or RV and a safe base from which to venture out and explore Australia.

The facilities are, as the name suggests, resort-standard.

I can’t help feeling that this concept will spread as more and more retirees opt out of crowded cities and combine their love of travel with country living.

I’ve placed three sample photos below but the full gallery of pictures can be seen at Caravan Park Photos.

Police Chase a Caravan in France – Amazing!

If it wasn’t so serious it would be funny.  The police try to stop a caravan without success.  Make sure you watch this through to the end.

I am grateful tothe World of Camping and Caravanning in the UK for alerting me to this video.

Motorhome with Car in Tow.

I took this photo at a rest area north of Newcastle.  It seems to me that the owners of this Winnebago have got the ratio right between a motorhome and a car.

It looks good and seems to fit together OK.  I was very impressed with the matching decals.

Nuttbush Retreat Caravan and Camping area near Port Augusta SA

Ros Dunstall, Darryl Smith and Ryan Smith have kindly sent me this report about Nuttbush Caravan Park which is situated 40km west of Port Augusta.

“We were travelling to Streaky Bay in April and decided not to stop in Port Augusta overnight but travel on and perhaps stop at Iron Knob or thereabouts.

About 40kms from Port Augusta on the Eyre Highway we came upon Nuttbush Retreat and Caravan and Camping area.

We decided to pull in as there were only 3 vans in the camping area and a couple of tents.

Well we got our first surprise when it only cost $20/night (3 Adults in a Toyota Coaster bus with small dog).

The facilities were excellent, toilet and showers clean and modern, bbq and camp kitchen area also clean and tidy.

Swimming pool was closed as it was too cold.

A dining room available but best to book for a great country cooked meal in an area of the old wool shed set aside for a restaurant/eating area  – beautifully set up and food great.

Oh, it also came with smell-o-rama, as they had just finished shearing the last of the sheep.

The rec room was comfortable, and there is a huge fireplace for those cold nights.

We would thoroughly recommend this stopover to anyone travelling westwards after Port Augusta.”

Some photos were also attached to the report and you can see them here.

Lane Cove River Tourist Park – Lane Cove, Sydney NSW.

I have stayed at the Lane Cove River Tourist Park many times and it is a lovely park surrounded by acres of bushland which make up the Lane Cove National Park.

This park was the winner of the Best Caravan Park Camp Ground in Australia for 2008 and Best Caravan Park Camp Ground in NSW for 2007 and 2008.  It rightly deserves these awards.

The North Ryde Suburban Railway Station is within easy walking distance of the park which means that tourists arriving from overseas can catch a train to North Ryde and then walk down to the park.

Trains leave regularly for the city via Chatswood.

The staff of the park are always very welcoming and helpful.

You can see a full set of photos of the park here.
