Maree Mirk reviews Adelaide Beachfront Holiday Park

Our roving reporter Maree Mirk filed this report after staying at Discovery Holiday Parks – Adelaide Beachfront:

“Don’t be fooled by the photos on the website of the ensuite van sites. They show the nice new central ensuite sites.

We arrived to find that our van just fitted on our site (not enough room left to walk between the van and the fence and the draw bar almost on the road) and the ensuite we were provided with was like a building site portaloo.

It was mouldy, the seals were broken and the shower leaked everyone. My husband is over 6ft and had to sit sideways on the toilet.

We went over with all my family and had booked 3 cabins also which were nice but not particulary well cleaned.

The camp kitchen was great, did not get to see the main amenities block as we had an ensuite site we did not get a key to it.

Not a park we would recommend.”

Paul Henstock reviews Lakes Entrance Tourist Park Victoria

Our roving reporter Paul Henstock filed this comprehensive review of Lake Entrance Tourist Park:

“There are a heap of caravan parks to choose from in Lakes Entrance but we were more than happy with our choice here.

We travel with a large van (27ft) and we are too large for many of the sites but on arrival we found somebody else had mistakingly “well set up” on the site “allocated” for our booking!

That presented no problems for our hosts who calmly, (and, as it turned out, creatively) went about finding another spot for us, without the “offenders” even knowing they were on the wrong site!

This park is well maintained and the amenities are kept in good repair and spotless.

Camp kitchen, BBQs, games room and a sparkling pool are available and the park is in the OZ Park group.

For dog owners there is a “doggy day care” service available at Canine Capers – located at the back of a mall on the opposite corner to the Post Office. You can also have your pooch pampered while you are away if you wish.

By using the dog care service we were able to take the Thursday Winery Lunch and day cruise (goes from opposite Post Office) – a day we would like to do again!!

Dogs are not allowed in the grounds at Buchan Caves, so the “doggy day care” service will come in handy again!”
