Our roving reporter Len Archer of Serpentine Western Australia reviews Pardoo Roadhouse Tavern and Caravan Park in Pardoo Western Australia:
“A nice little Oasis,with grassed sites,power,water connection, takes pets on lead, and the toilets/shower combination are ok for the Pilbara area. Has small laundry and a lovely shaded swimming pool, kept in good condition. Service station has Petrol/Diesel/LPG and a tavern/Restaurant attached where good meals can be had for $20, large serve. The price is $28 powered and $24 unpowered and the owners assured me they are trying to keep the prices this season. (An unpowered site in one park in Port Hedland is $35 per night). A 40km return side trip will take you out to Cape Kerauden, ($10 entry) but if the Threadfin salmon are running at the creek it is worthwhile.”

The NSW town of Urunga is located 504km from Sydney. The town has still managed to retain the charm of a beachside village and has a number of caravan parks and an excellent golf course. The Urunga Golf and Sports Club is not only a good place for golf but also a great place to eat. The club has excellent views of the water as you can see from the photo below:
I’ve just got off the phone from speaking to Craig Witts at Queens Beach Tourist Village in Bowen which is located 1,141km north of Brisbane in beautiful tropical North Queensland.
“What the weather like today Craig?”, I asked. He told me it was 30 degrees and raining.
I live north west of Coffs Harbour and it is 32 degrees today and, sadly, not raining.
Don’t be spooked by threats of cyclones or anticipated heat at this time of year. I’m confident that my car and van could outrun a cyclone and weather reports give plenty of warning.
The parks in North Queensland welcome visitors with open arms in summer so head north my fellow travellers.
