Caravan Parks

On the Road Report from Elaine of Canberra.

Hi. I sent you a report on the Riverglade Caravan Park at Tumut last year and talked about the cabins there.

We have just bought a van and used the caravan park twice since then.  It now has two new amenities blocks as well as a large covered BBQ area, which also has a TV etc.

They have replanted grass and we found the area to be quite lovely.

Also we stayed at the Blue Mountains Caravan Park at Blackheath.  It is council run, very cheap with lovely shade trees (glorious in autumn.)

The amentities block is old but was relatively clean even over Easter when it was packed. There is no good TV reception.

They have some sites with concrete, some without, but the grass is well established and lovely to walk on.

It is opposite the Memorial Park which has a huge playground for kids, lots of BBQ’s and a duck pond, again with lovely trees.

The owners are very welcoming. They have a covered BBQ area and washing up facilities, porta potty disposal etc.

Great spot for walks into the Blackheath area – taxis will pick up from anywhere and drop you back (most places had good mobile reception.)

Neighbours stayed in the cabins – old but cheap and comfortable. Hope this helps.

Comment from John Townsend:

I also have lovely memories of Blackhealth Caravan Park.  The roof of my caravan pop top involuntarily went down at night and I could not understand why.  When I got up the next morning I looked outside and snow was everywhere.  It was the weight of the snow that lowered the roof!
