Balgal Beach rest area is a free camp site and you are allowed to stay 48 hours...not 24 hours as shown above and in other post. I am currently set up in this park (22nd June 2016) and the site is well advertised as 48 hours both in the attached shop and on notice boards. There is unpowered sites for about 14 -16 vans depending on size and how people have parked already. The whole area is wonderful as place to break a trip and chill out for a while. There are fish in the Rollingstone tidal creek and I saw several of the very elusive barramundie jumping. Generators are allowed till 8.30pm or so and the shop has a good range of goods...if a little expensive. The whole area is obviously well maintained with excellent lawns/gardens, sheltered dining areas BBQs and playground. Would advise getting here early ...at least in the morning. Some people have reported midges here....but we have not had very many today/tonight.

Nice campsite. Most people we talked to broke the 24hr limit which I didn't like. It's only a small area and it gets really busy so just stay one night and let other people enjoy. Staying over the time limit is my pet hate.
