Located on the shores of Lake Cootharaba on the Noosa River in the Great Sandy National Park, Boreen Point is a small community about 20kms off the Bruce Highway via Pomona or Cooroy. The access road is of reasonable quality sealed for the entire length. Boreen Point Bush Camping & Caravan Park is run by the Sunshine Coast Regional Council. The Caretaker lives on site and is available for checking between 8AM and sunset. Facilities include a very clean amenities block with hot showers, drinking (tank) water, bore water for washing of clothes and dishes. A very neat clean communal BBQ area with gas BBQs is provided in the centre of the park. A sports area has BMX ramps and a tennis court. Accommodation is spread over a large area and provides for everything from bush camping to 8 powered van sites although these do NOT have water or waste traps provided. The powered van sites are accessed via a gravel road with quite restricted manoeuvring areas and are suitable only for vans under about 6 metres. Access to the Park itself is along a narrow sealed road with a couple of tight hook bends which effectively limit access to vans under about 7.5 metres and Mobile homes under 8 metres. Drivers of rigs approaching these limits would be well advised to park near the shop and canoe hire outside the park and walk the access road before proceeding. Caretaker contact: PHONE 5485 3244 during Office Hours, 8:00 a.m. to Sunset. POST: Onsite Caretakers, SCRC Camp Ground on Lake Cootharaba, Boreen Point 4565.
