Charlestown Golf Course - Charlestown NSW

The Charlestown Golf Course is located at Barker Avenue, Hillsborough. In brief - a magnificent, demanding course. Charlestown golf course is undulating with water not far from any holes. The 10th has some hidden water on the approach to the green that is out of view at the bend in the fairway. The course is well marked and easy to navigate and you even get a kookaburra thrown in - see Hole 10 layout. The greens were in very good condition on the day I played and look as though they consistently play true.

This course is a real oasis in the middle of Newcastle. Hole 14 requires you to tee off over water to a fairway that has a tendency to slope back into the lake so a good hit is required. One of my favorite photos in this set is the approach to the green on the 15th which is a steep descent down to the green. You might like to grab this one as a photo for your desktop. Trees and bird life are prolific as you can see from the ducks which abound. Add this one to your list if you visit the Hunter as it is excellent value for money.
