Hidden Gem! Discovered this park through word of mouth. Unfortunately I have only had the pleasure of two visits so far, but am planning the next one! Let me give you all the run down. Park is located only 2.5 hours from sydney, 1.5 hours from newcastle. Its hard to believe something so beautiful and amazing is right on our doorstep. Dont be discouraged by a drive into the country, the scenery is to die for. The road will wind you in, around and over mountains. Then you will dive between the trees and in through the creeks over solid concrete bridges. You dont need a 4wd to access the park either, my little Kia made it just fine and breezed through the creekbeds. So what can you expect on arrival? Prepare to be met by a bright face with a big smile! The owners of the park love what they do and want you to love every part of it as much as them. They are most welcoming and very knowledgable. Whether you are a first time camper, new to the area or returning camper, the owners will be sure to provide you with all the information about the park and surrounds to ensure you enjoy your stay. There is soo much to see, do and experience in the park and surrounds. You can spend your day bush walking the numerous tracks. The park owners will guide you as to which ones to take depending on the season. They are in tune with what the river are doing, what tracks are clear, and which way is the best to go for your personal needs. You can go bike riding or explore the many waterways, creeks and ponds. If 4wdriving is your thing, ask the owners and they will unlock the gates to some really amazing hidden tracks! Remember if relaxing is your thing, this is also your one stop shop! No lights, no noise, no sirens, no loud music, just serenity. The park has many campsites and powered sites to suit all campers. You can choose a set up on the hill and stare off into the distance, or camp down under the canopy of tall trees and watch the sky fade between the leaves. You can also camp right on the riverbank and fall asleep to the sound of crystal water trickling over the rocks. The park has all the modern facilities for those 'glampers' amoung us. Numerous camping tables for you to take advantage of, full functioning laundry, camp kitchen and toilets. Everything is kept sparkling clean by the dedicated park owners and its all done with a gleeming smile! If your worried about hot showers.... DONT BE! The hottest showers I have ever experienced, even in 5 star luxury resorts. This a nice added bonus to scrub off the days' adventures. The park offers a small kiosk at the entry to stock you up with all the things you forgot to bring or have run out of. They also stock all the modern treats like icecreams, chips and softdrinks. Next the wildlife, If you want to experience nature outside a zoo or enclosure, this is the place to be. At any given moment there will be some sort of animal, bird, fish, insect in sight. We swam with the fishes, roasted marshmellows with a family of possums, woke up with kookaburras and walked with kangaroos. The wildlife is in abundance and you cant escape it! So in conclusion: If your looking for to get back to get away to experience nature, relax, or explore, dont go past The Gloucester Tops Riverside Park. It will become your favourite secret getaway!
