Dilli Village is located at Trk E off Forest Lakes Trail , Great Sandy National Park. World Heritage listed Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world and is more than 120km long and 22km across at its widest point.
Originally a sand mining camp operated by Dillingham, an American mining company, Dilli Village is now a research and learning centre for schools and universities. The site is also a popular destination for family groups, day visitors and small tour groups.
Dilli Village provides accommodation for students and staff, and access to field study sites for primary, secondary and tertiary student groups. USC has prepared a set of resources for use by school groups while staying at the Fraser Island Research and Learning Centre
Researchers and groups with genuine environmental interests in the region are encouraged to use the site.
Dilli Village is also a starting point for the Fraser Island Great Walk.
