Popiltah Lake Rest Area is situated on the Silver City Highway at Pooncarie. Pooncarie is 137km south of Broken Hill and 1,169km west of Sydney.

Good roadside rest area,not too much traffic noise mainly B double trucks and caravans,usual toilets.Very popular stop.On the opposite side of the highway about 30 mtrs heading towards Broken Hill there is a huge area to camp (no facilities ) and go for a walk to actually get amongst the local flora without a barb wire fence to stop you,it also allows you to get further off the highway.This is one of the better rest areas on the silver city highway.
