Campaspe River Rest Area - Pentland QLD
The Campaspe River Rest Area is on the Flinders Highway near Pentland. Pentland is 1,452km north-west of Brisbane. The trip takes approximately 15 hours and 35 minutes, although slower if you are towing a heavy van or large rig. The rest area is 158km east of Hughenden and 90km west of Charters Towers. There are amenties and a picnic table. Maximum stay is 20 hours. If you decide to stay overnight then it is entirely at your own risk. There is plenty of room here for RVs of all shape and sizes. Please respect the personal space of other campers who may be in the area when you arrive.

We stayed here in July 2016 and it is a good overnight stop. The toilets are well maintained, have paper supplied and it would be possible to fill up a few litres or so of water if really needed from the tank supply. The bins all have liners and appear to be emptied every day or so. It is a good sized area and there is plenty of room for 20 -25 rigs I would think. Agree with comments below.

No cost travellers stopover. Between Hughenden and Charters Towers. Basic toilets. Suitable for caravans and big rigs. BBQ, shelter and water tanks available in grassy area. The most delightful river walk scenery nearby with sandy banks and trees. Real Australian. Three trains went through at night and a million stars overhead.
