Camp Blackman Campground - Warrumbungle National Park NSW

See ancient volcanic remnants from the Grand High Tops track, one of Australia's great walks. White Gum Lookout walk is a 1-km return bitumen track suitable for wheelchairs, with views of jutting peaks and the western plains. Gurianawa track (less than 1-km return loop suitable for wheelchairs} leads down to Spirey Creek and provides good views of the old volcanoes, Siding Spring Observatory and flats. Walking tracks vary widely in grade and length - several are easy and well formed while others are steep and rough.
The volcanic cliffs are popular for rock climbing {not permitted on The Bread-knife; you'll need a permit elsewhere). Discovery walks, talks and tours are available in spring and autumn school holidays or to groups on request; these include walks to Tara Cave with a local Aboriginal guide, spotlight night walks and children's activities.
Camping is available at Camp Blackman (facilities include hot showers), Pincham (backpack camping} and several other sites. Book for large groups (phone 6825 4364). There are wheelchair-accessible toilets at Camp Blackman, Split Rock, the Woolshed and Canyon picnic area. Groups can hire the Woolshed for undercover camping; call the visitor centre for details.
Access 35 km west of Coonabarabran on John Renshaw Parkway, or 80 km north-east of Gilgandra via Gumin Road (partly unsealed}. Vehicle entry fee applies. WALK IN ONLY : Balor Hut is the last remaining walkers hut in the Warrumbungle National Park. The campground is a 'walk-in' area at the base of The Breadknife and Grand High Tops. It's a great starting point for early morning walks to Bluff Mountain or even as far as Mount Exmouth.
There are eight (8) slab bunks in the hut but you will need to bring all your own bedding. There is a solid fuel fire in the hut and fireplace outside but you MUST bring your own firewood and adhere to fire season warnings.
Getting there: From Coonabarabran travel along John Renshaw Parkway. Turn into Pincham carpark about 50 metres from the Visitor Centre turnoff. From Pincham carpark the walk to Balor Hut is about 6kms – uphill with a couple of steep pinches. Sealed road access to Pincham carpark
Facilities: wood barbecues (bring your own firewood), non-flush toilets, drinking water
Water supply: Rainwater tank.
Bookings: Bookings in advance are essential. Contact the Warrumbungle National Park Visitor Centre - hirers will need to collect the key to the hut from the Visitor Centre (open daily 9am to 4pm). The campsite is accessible by sealed roads. 357 km NW of Sydney. The campsite is beside Wambelong Creek. Drive along John Renshaw Parkway into the park, turn off to the park visitor centre, then keep driving to the campground. You can park a caravan, trailer, or a tent in this campground. There are a total of 70 campsites. There are walks and mountain biking to enjoy in the area. There are a number of powered sites. You can book a campsite by phoning the Campsite contact.

Didn't stay at this camp a bit crowded and regulated for us but a nice campground just the same.We went down the road to camp Wambelong and used the showers here. The National Parks visitors centre is nearby, good souvenirs friendly staff. If you intend to stay more than 3 days it's best to buy a yearly parks pass instead of paying for single days, even cheaper with a seniors card
