Paul Henstock reviews the Stopover Tourist Park in Broadwater NSW

Our roving reporter Paul Henstock filed this report on the Stopover Tourist Park in Broadwater NSW:

Under New Management means this park has seen new owners Bart and Tina Mckew be very busy bees and the park now has a fresh neat, clean and tidy appearance.

Bart also offers a Valet parking service which probably means he wants to keep his reversing skills with caravans, motorhomes, fifth wheelers and bus up to scratch! There are also some drive-thru sites if you wish to stay hitched up.

Whatever your rig the welcome is warm and friendly, and your pet is welcome to (conditions apply of course). A dog bath may not impress the dog, but it impressed me!

I was also impressed that Broadwater has a home-style cooking award winning restaurant, Melba’s Verandah, that serves breakfast and lunch. Set amongst an English style garden taste bud tantalisers include salmon and goats chese tart and a fruity cognac bread and butter pudding for dessert! Heaps of other stuff to tempt you as well!

Other eating options are the pub, bowls club or the BP takeaway which also offers pizza.

Affordable rates mean you could use this park as a base for a few days and nip down to Evans Head for great fish and chips from the take-away at the roundabout, or head to Alstonville to seek out the award winning local coffee grower and shop.

The park has a pool, free BBQs, telephone and disabled facilities. LPG is also available.

Next door is a small Post Office, / DVD hire / essentials shop, that also has a couple of fuel bowsers for a fill before heading off.

On the other side of the park the Koala Sanctuary (access from park) is ideal for a relaxing read, or lunch in the shade.

Having stopped here for a week we can thoroughly recommend it here for the hospitality shown by Bart and Tina McKew.

Nothing is too much trouble. Should you require anything Bart will even help you set up if needed.

The amenities are spotless and the park atmosphere is great The permanents go out of there way to make you feel so welcome

From our experience travelling this is one of the most relaxing parks we have stopped in.
