Teewah Beach - Great Sandy National Park QLD
Location: Along Teewah Beach in a 15 km zone between Noosa Shire boundary and Little Freshwater Creek. Beach camping is not permitted outside of this zone, including areas from Double Island Point west to Rainbow Beach.
Access: The beach camping area can be reached by 4WD only.
Number of sites: Open area without separately defined sites.
Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping beside your vehicle; walk-in camping; off-road caravans and camper trailers with high clearance.
Camp site surface: Sand and/or grass.
Facilities: Bulk refuse bins. For hygiene purposes, campers are encouraged to bring a portable toilet rather than bush toileting. A beach camper’s service bay is located opposite the day-use area at Freshwater, which includes a portable toilet waste disposal facility, water taps and cold water outdoor showers. Treat all water before use.
Open fires: Allowed (except when fire bans or prohibitions apply). Refer to the Cooloola Conditions Report (PDF, 331K)* and park alerts on the DERM website for updates. Fuel stoves are recommended.
Generators: Permitted, but consider your neighbours especially at night. Please be quiet after 9 pm.
Essentials to bring: Drinking water*, fuel or gas stove, rubbish bags, first-aid kit, insect repellent, sunscreen, sand pegs and firewood (untreated mill off-cuts). Collecting wood (including leaves and twigs for kindling) from the national park is illegal. Portable toilets are preferred. Read more about things to know before you go.
*Fresh water obtained from pools, creeks or from sub-surface supplies on Teewah Beach is not suitable for drinking, cooking, showering or swimming. The use of portable sand spears to collect sub-surface water from the foredune areas is not permitted. Fresh water (untreated) is available at Freshwater day-use area—treat before drinking.
Bookings: Book online, over-the-counter or by phone. Advance bookings required for holiday periods.
Mobile phone coverage: Not available. There is a pay phone at Freshwater campground.
